Research Scientist, Space Science Center of the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space, University of New Hampshire. Douglas Larson received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of New Hampshire in 1996. His advisor was Professor Richard L. Kaufmann and his thesis is titled "Cross-tail current carriers in a two-dimensional equilibrium magnetotail." After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Larson worked with Dr. Lynn Kistler on inner magnetosphere problems. Subsequent to this he was a postdoc at the Space Radiation Lab at Caltech working on SAMPEX and Galileo data with Professors Richard Mewalt and Edward Stone. After his postdoc, Doug went to work in industry programing for the E-commerce company Silknet. When the internet bubble burst, Doug returned to space physics. Doug currently works with Professor Jimmy Raeder and his Open Geospace General Circulation Model as well as administer the Zaphod Beowolf computer cluster.
